Job Description: The scientist positions will be responsible for contributing to instrument, assay and reagent development and validation using input from market research and customer feedback. The appropriate candidates will have extensive experience with cell biology, particularly in areas of cell transfection, siRNA knockdown studies, cell line development and cell-based assays. Experience with primary and challenging cell types is beneficial. The successful candidates will be expected to complete scientific and technical tasks on aggressive timelines, to work as part of a team on varied tasks with changing priorities and to provide direct management of research associates on the team. All positions require the ability to communicate results clearly, to troubleshoot technical issues, to plan and carry out experiments independently, and to work with complex instrumentation and software. Direct experience with GLP practices, as well as product release documentation and validation, is preferred.

Educational and Work Experience Requirements: Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology or related fields. Post-doctoral experience plus 2+ years (Scientist) or 4+ years (Sr. Scientist) of industrial laboratory experience in cell biology and molecular biology. Extensive proven knowledge of cell biology and cell-based assays is required. Previous experience in industry with instrumentation and software development, reagent, kit and disposable product development as well as expert proficiency with microscopy, and fluorescent assays. Job Description:A postdoctoral fellow position is available to explore and develop novel applications of Cyntellect’s technology in a variety of areas including laser-mediated transfection and/or purification of primary cells for potential therapeutic applications, development of innovative live cell drug discovery applications, siRNA knockdown applications in challenging cell types, and other potential applications envisioned by the applicant. Experience with primary and challenging cell types is essential. Candidates for Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to conduct research in a predominantly independent manner. Fellows will be expected to pursue development of experimental designs, managing and processing data and interpreting and preparing results for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Fellows will work closely with a principal investigator and communicate effectively both in writing and through oral presentations.

Service Engineer
Job Description: The Service Engineer schedules and performs on-site installation, servicing, and repair of the company’s products, which consist of complex optical-based electro-mechanical instrumentation used in cell-based life science applications. Works with other departments to troubleshoot system issues and develop new tools to diagnose and resolve issues quickly. Works with Technical Service Specialist to support customers in biological applications of the products.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Install, upgrade, and maintain instrument systems. Align optical and mechanical systems used for imaging and laser-based manipulations. Troubleshoot and repair system problems. Submit service and problem/troubleshooting reports. Maintain service database & spare parts inventory. Work with multi-disciplinary development teams to characterize and validate new products. Develop and revise SOPs and Service Manuals. Train Service Personnel covering overseas territories. Take ownership of issues to satisfy customers by providing assistance and effective problem resolution Provide instrumentation support for Technical Service Specialist. Provide a high level of service to customers, ensuring that installed systems meet or exceed specifications and minimize instrument down time. Investigate complaints, provide scheduled maintenance and assist customer training. Work with business development to identify potential customers and/or collaborators.

Minimum Job Qualifications/Experience - Requirements: BS in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, related degree with experience in the life sciences instrumentation industry. Minimum of 3 years of field experience in the installation and servicing of life science research instrumentation involving optical and opto-mechanical elements. Demonstrated experience with excellent customer interaction skills. Must be highly motivated and have strong problem solving ability. Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills. Computer experience and literacy is a must. Must be able to work independently when in the field. Strong interest and passion in serving customers.

Preferred Job Qualifications/Experience: Experience with troubleshooting of optical systems and alignment of optical systems. Experience with motion control systems, linear actuators, and galvanometers. Experience with lasers, alignment of laser systems and troubleshooting of lasers a plus.

Senior Verification Engineer
Job Description: The Verification Engineer will drive test methodology development and product verification for Company products. The successful candidate will play a key role in architecting test processes, tools, and methodologies for use as well as bring new products to market by leading test and validation activity on fast paced multi-disciplinary product development teams.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Writes validation planning and documentation per product requirements and specifications. Executes plans effectively. Creates product trace matrices capable of matching all design input to satisfactory test results. Produces well-structured, documented and maintainable test cases and/or scripts that support the verification test cycle within the product development lifecycle. Produces well-structured, documented and maintainable test cases and/or scripts for automated regression testing utilized in integration testing and long term automated and manual qualification and product verification testing. Adheres to established test methodologies for validation and verification of product releases. Works to expose and resolve anomalies and variations between Product Requirement Specifications and implementation through the use of sanity, stress, and regression test procedures. Works to perform tasks according to needs and schedules as driven by business and customer needs. Develops ways to improve productivity, while at the same time ensuring the integrity and clarity of test results. Estimates work tasks to ensure delivery by agreed timescales

Minimum Job Qualifications/Experience - Requirements: BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Bioscience or related field. 7+ years experience in instrumentation software and system level validation and verification. Biomedical Instrument Engineer/Instrumentation Technician

SUMMARY
To successfully design, test, troubleshoot and transfer to production electronic designs for instrumentation projects focusing on instrument performance and reliability of integrated systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the design, development, execution, and documentation of electronic projects on new product development as well as sustaining existing designs.
Develop data acquisition means and general bench test equipment to monitor and evaluate performance and reliability of component parts and/or of a complex electromechanical process instrument. Design test methods; cooperate with other technical disciplines to build appropriate test setups and/or custom fixturing; record results and author test reports. Troubleshoot test failures and integrated instrument failures to root cause, and work with a team to recommend and implement design improvements, and potential product enhancements. Participate in strategic planning of system architectures for new product development.
Analyze and write relevant standards and procedures.
Maintain project documentation in accordance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements. Conduct test procedures in accordance with established safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

BS degree or equivalent experience, in electrical engineering.
5 - 10 years experience in developing, manufacturing, and/or servicing of complex software driven electromechanical devices. 
Experience with one or more of the following is preferred: development of bench type test fixturing for electromechanical subassemblies, experience with embedded firmware, data acquisition systems (analog & digital), complex circuit design particularly I/O interfacing to microprocessor based control systems, reliability assessment through empirical means.
Demonstrates technical proficiency, creativity and the ability to manage and direct other engineering staff.
Must be a proactive problem solver.
Ability to function both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Ability to manage small projects from concept to completion.
Must be innovative and entrepreneurial, but capable of operating in an FDA regulated environment.
