Software Configuration Manager

Job Summary

Software configuration management serves as the ‘backbone’ of any effective software quality assurance program. As such, the Configuration Manager directs high quality product delivery to the production environment through consistently reproducible processes that assess risks of poor product performance and provide solution-based deliverables in a timely fashion. This is accomplished by working with and coordinating activities across various groups, including: production support staff, management, software developers, customer representatives, quality assurance engineers and testers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages the coordination and transfer of software from development, through testing, and into the production / release environment in a manner consistent with corporate quality objectives.
  • Coordinates with the Software Engineering team as well as external vendors in order to control the transition of deliverables throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Establishes procedures and implements the introduction of approved software from development to release.
  • The candidate must be able to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Must be customer focused, demonstrate high initiative, perform effectively in a team environment, and be able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Provides leadership, plans, and establishes standard configuration processes and tools.
  • Monitors all configuration activities for compliance with standard processes.
  • Coordinates configuration activities for selected projects, including policies and procedures to ensure conformance with applicable standards and industry guidance.
  • Identifies configuration issues and provides leadership in developing solutions such as re-allocation of resources or modifying configuration tools and documentation generating tools.

Minimum Job Qualifications/Experience - Requirements

  • BS / MS in computer science or related field.
  • 7+ years experience following “best practices” for development and release of software product.
  • 3-5+ years experience in Visual Studio environment.
  • 5-7+ years working in a production software environment with strong documentation skills and a proven ability to drive solutions from beginning to end with minimal supervision.
  • Thorough understanding of Software Quality Assurance processes, including organization and methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Job Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience with .NET environment is preferred
  • Experience in biomedical device industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience with complex projects is strongly desired.
